Wi-Fi hotspot
Applies to: vehicles with Wi-Fi hotspot
You can use the MMI as a Wi-Fi hotspot to con-
nect up t o eigh t Wi-Fi devices to the Interne t.
While driving, res tricted use of non-secured,
light, small wireless devices is only possible from
the rear of the vehicle.
Requirement: the ignition must be switched on .

! MENU I button> Telephone > right con-
trol button > Wi - Fi setting s.
The following sett ings can be mod ified :
Wi-Fi mode
The MMI Wi-Fi hotspot is deactivated at the fac-
tory. Switch the Wi-F i hotspot to
Hotspot before
establ ishing a connection between your vehicle
and your Wi-Fi device.
- Hot spot: the MMI W i-Fi hotspot is active and
visib le to other devices. A connection can be es-
tablished w ith new wireless devices.
- Off: the MMI Wi-Fi hotspot is deactivated . An
I nternet connect ion is not possible .
Hotspot set ting s
The Wi- Fi connect ion between your vehicle and
your Wi -Fi device (laptop , cell phone) is encrypt-
ed. To establish a connection, you must enter the
follow ing values when sett ing up your w ireless
device. You can change them if necessary.
- Access point (SSID): name of the W i-Fi net -
work .
- Password: a random password was set at the
factory for the MMI. The password can be
changed . The WPA2 encryption method re-
qui res a password to be at least 8 characters
long . Select a secure password.
- V isible to others: your Wi-Fi network visibility
can be swit ched on or off.
