The air quality sensor that is de-
s igned for diesel and gasoline exhaust auto -
matically switches the recircu lation mode on o r
off depend ing on the level of poll utants in t he
o utside air.
In recirculation mode, the a ir inside the vehicle is
circu lated and fi ltered . This prevents the unfil-
tered air o utside the vehicle from entering the
ve hicle interior . We recommend swit ching reci r-
cula t ion mode on when driving th rough a tunnel
or when sitting in traffic

I@ MAXI Switching defrost on and off
The windshield and side windows are defrosted
or cleared of condensation as qu ickly as possible .
The optimum amou nt of a ir flows main ly out of
the vents under t he windshield . Recirculat ion
mode switches off. The temperature is cont rolled
automatic a lly.
The
IAU TOI button switches the defroster off .
I@ REAR I Switching the rear window defogger
on and off
If the rear window defogger is activated when
the ign ition is switched on, the batte ry manage-
ment dete rm ines based on t he ba tte ry charge if
it is possib le to tu rn on . Otherwise, the rear win-
dow de fogger functions with the engine running
and switches off au t omatically after approxi -
mately 10 - 20 minutes, depending on the out-
side temp e rature .
To prevent the rear window defogger from
sw itch ing off a utomatically , press and hold the
llliil REARI button fo r more than 2 seconds. This re-
mains stored up to approximat ely 15 minutes af-
ter turn ing off the ign it ion.
Warm and cold
A WARNING
-
You should not use the recirculat ion mode for
an extended period since no fresh a ir is draw n
in. With the air-conditioning switched off, the
windows can fog up, which increases the risk
of an accident .
Adjusting the air vents

To adjust the direction of air flow, turn the
ridged outer adjustment wheel
(D c:> fig. 61 .
To adjust the amount of air flow, move the lever
@ on the a ir vent. To stop the air flow, move the
lever all the way to the left .
