138 4-4 Starting and Driving
Attention
■ To prevent damage, the "P" position button must be pressed after the
vehicle is stopped fully.
■ "R": reverse position. Shift to R position only after the vehicle is
parked steadily.
■ "N": neutral position. Shift to N position for stopping the vehicle for a short
time.
● For whatever reasons, the vehicle must be set in "P" position if the
driver leaves the vehicle.
■ "D": drive position. Shift to D position to normally drive the vehicle.
■ The gear can be switched to the driving gear only when the power supply is
"OK".
■ It is necessary to step on the brake and press unlock at the same time
when shifting out of P gear or shifting to driving gear. Please refer to the
instrument prompt for detailed operation.
■ After successful shifting, release the gearshift lever, and the gearshift lever
will automatically return to the central position.
WARNING
■ If the vehicle moves for a long time after the motor is shut down and the
gearshift lever has been placed to "N" position, the transmission may be
seriously damaged due to the lack of lubrication.
■ If the motor runs and the gearshift lever has been placed to "R" or "D"
position, be sure to depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, because
the transmission can transfer power, resulting in slow moving forward of
the vehicle, even if under the idle speed condition.
■ Be sure not to depress the accelerator pedal when shifting the gear during
vehicle running forward, so as to prevent the occurrence of any accident.
■ Be sure not to push the gearshift lever to "R" position or press the "P"
button during vehicle running, so as to prevent the occurrence of any
accident.
■ It is not recommended to drive the vehicle down the slope in "N" or "P"
gear, even if the vehicle is not started.
■ To prevent unintentional movement of the vehicle, pull up the parking
brake and press the "P" position button after the vehicle is stopped steadily.
