232 6-3 DIY Maintenance
WARNING
Using excessively worn, under-pressure or over-pressure tires will cause
accidents, even resulting in personal injuries and deaths.
Be sure to act in accordance with all instructions related to tire inflating and
maintenance in this manual.
Inflating
Proper inflating of tires can provide the best combination of
maneuverability, tire tread life and driving comfort.
Using underinflated tires will result in uneven wear of tires and affect
maneuverability and energy consumption. More likely, air leakage may be
caused due to overheat.
Using overinflated tires will reduce the driving and riding comfort and cause
damage to tires more easily due to uneven road surface. In severe cases,
there will be the risk of tire burst, which may threaten the vehicle safety
seriously and cause uneven wear of tires, affecting their service life.
When tires are in cold state (the vehicle is equipped with a tire pressure
monitoring device), you can determine whether to inflate them according to
the tire pressure value of each tire as displayed on the instrument.
Measure tire pressure when the tire is in a cold state. This means that tire
pressure measurement should be carried out at least three hours after
stopping of the vehicle. If you have to drive the vehicle before tire pressure
measurement, tires are considered to be in cold state as long as the
running distance is not greater than 1.6 km.
If tire pressure measurement is carried out in hot state (after vehicle
running for several kilometers), the pressure reading will be 30~40 kPa
(0.3~0.4 bar) higher than that measured in cold state This is a normal
phenomenon. Do not deflate in order to meet the specified tire pressure
reading in cold state. Otherwise, insufficient tire pressure will be caused.
Warm tip
Recommended tire pressure in cold state is indicated on the tire pressure
label (pasted on the driver's door frame).
A tubeless tire can realize self-closure when it is punctured. However, air
leakage is very slow in general. For this reason, you should carefully find
the position of leakage when the tire pressure starts to decrease.
