11.4.Manually charging the AMR
CAUTION
Do not connect the AMR to a manual charger and an automatic charger at the same time
as this can result in damage to either charger.
See the Components overview [26] for details on button and switch locations.
Do NOT attempt to lock-out/tag-out the AMR before shutting down the AMR or if the AMR is charging
(manually or autonomously).
IMPORTANT
If the robot setup includes the OTTO 600/1200 Fast Charger, AMRs will be sent to charge
autonomously without human intervention.
The AMR will shut itself down at 20 - 25% battery State-of-Charge (SoC).
1. Maneuver the robotinto position to be out of any high traffic area. The charger can be taken to the
AMR, if an outlet is close, or the AMR moved to it by driving it manually or autonomously.
2. Press an Emergency Stop button on the AMR.
TIP
Shut the robot down to prevent the robot from indicating an emergency stop
state. Using a manual charger on a robot that is currently on will keep the robot in
the powered on state. Attempting to power off the robot by pressing the Power
button will not have the desired effect and the robot will remain powered on while
connected to the manual charger.
3. Shut down the AMR [38].
4. Wait 30 seconds. Confirm the AMR light pipe has turned off.
5. Lock-out/tag-out the AMR [38].
6. Connect the manual charger to the battery side of the battery connection. The connector will click
into position.
CAUTION
The AMR-side and battery-side battery connections are identical. Make sure to
connect the manual charger to the battery side of the connection. Connecting to
the wrong side may result in damage to the AMR.
7. Access the front controls [28].
8. Re-insert the key into the Key Switch, turn it to the right, and hold its position for 3 seconds.
