Whentheoilstrainercapisremoved,therewillbeaspring
insideofit,asshownbelow.
Usually,theoilstrainerremainsintheenginewhentheoil
strainercapandspringareremoved.You’llhavetoreach
intotheenginewithapickorascrewdrivertoget
theoil
straineroutoftheengine.
Whenyouremovetheoilstrainerforthefirstcoupleofoil
changes(astheengineisbreakingin),youwillseemore
thanafewmetallicparticlesandplasticadhesivematerial
(thegreenstuff)onthestrainer.Thisisnormal.
Cleanthe
strainer.WD‐40workswell,becauseyoucan
directthesprayintothestrainerfromtheinsideandblow
thefilteredparticlesoff.Ifyouwipethemoffwithashop
rag,takecarenottodeformthestrainer.
Afteralloftheoilhasdrainedfromthecrankcase,insert
the
cleanedstrainerintothespring/capassembly,asyou
seebelow.
Reinstallthestrainer,thespring,andthestrainercap.
Reinstalltheoildrainplug.
