3.3.16. Piston and connecting rod
•
Use a piston heater to heat the piston
approximately 100 ˚C (212 ˚F) for 5
minutes.
•
Align the piston pin hole with the oiled
connecting rod small end and press
the piston pin (by lightly tapping with a
rubber hammer) to assemble the con-
necting rod with the piston.
•
Noting the direction of the piston,
make the longer side (machined with
key groove on the bearing) of the con-
necting rod big end and the mark of
““ impressed on the inside of the
piston face each other in opposite
directions. On the piston head sur-
face, the longer side of connecting rod
big end is in opposite direction from
the valve seating surface as well as in
the same direction with the narrow
margin of combustion chamber.
•
Install the snap rings and check to see
that it is securely assembled.
•
Install the piston ring in the piston
using piston ring pliers.
