You should note that a phase coupler also couples interference from one
phase to the other. In this case, the dLAN signal would actually be
impaired. This is why you should always test the signal without a phase
coupler first!
If standard electric meters are installed (induction or eddy curr
ent meter,
recognisable by their discs, which rotate a different speeds depending on the level of
consumption), they form the boundary of the dLAN system, since the dLAN signals
are attenuated strongly due to the technical design. These meters are not firewalls
however! In contrast, electronic electricity meters, which are being installed more
and more these days, do not attenuate the dLAN signal.
Important: devolo AG recommends using a non-standard network
password to secure the dLAN network.
