A random or poorly maintained antenna network (e.g., loose or corroded
antenna sockets) usually leads to additional work and costs for reverse
engineering or a workaround,
Certain components in the antenna network (e.g. selective antenna outlets,
active amplifiers at floor-level) can interrupt dLAN supply and need to be
bridged if necessary. Further information on this topic can be found in
Chapter 3.
Make sure you take photos of all interesting sites and critical points in the
building. They allow to research certain details again after your return
without having to go back to the location.

Testing
Supplement your observations with your own tests. These serve for determining the
availability and the bandwidth between two points. You can also use them to
demonstrate the functioning and feasibility of the dLAN network to the customer
when you make the site survey.
Always perform tests in real-life conditions. Switch on all consumers you
would expect to use in normal operations. Do not perform the tests outside
of major business hours. If possible, perform the test over several days, in
order take affects into account that you may have overseen during
customer questioning and the site survey.
A simple, but very effective method of testing approach is to measure the
connectivity an
d available bandwidth with help of two dLAN AVpro(2) units. Install a
notebook and a device as the master on a stationary basis in the antenna
distribution, and then you go from endpoint to endpoint with a separate notebook
and adapter. Now generate a data load between both laptops with an FTP transfer,
