When connecting a PC direct to the CU 5905 please
follow the instruction given in this section in
sequence.

4.3 Cabling guidelines
TheDC5980PConferenceUnitsareconnectedtothe
CU 5905 Central Unit using Cat5e F/UTP or U/FTP
screened
cables,howeverthefollowingguidelines
hastobeobserved:
• Maximumcablelengthinonechainis150m
(before inserting RP 6004 Repeater in a
chain). This includes interconnection cables
between the units. The maximum usable
cablelengthdependsontheunitsconnected
andlengthoffeedingcablesetc.
• CablesmustbeAWG24ifthenumberofunits
in the tables are to be used. AWG26 cables
will not
allow as many units. DIS cables
seriesEC6001‐xxareallAWG26.
• Maximum cable length in one chain when
usingRP6004RepeatersandCat5ecablesis
450m.
Althoughthe‘Chain’outputconnectorshavea150W
supply,this150Wpowerisnotallavailablewithlong
cables,astherewillbeapowerdropinthefeeding
cable from the CU 5905 Central Unit to the units
connected.
Ifthefeedingcablesareshortandthecablesbetween
theunitsareshort,moreunitscanbeconnectedthan
ifthefeedingcableislongand/orthecablesarelong
betweentheunits.
Pleaseconsultthenextsectionsfordetailsaboutthe
numberofunits,whichcanbeconnecteddepending
nthecablelength.o
