F.2 Personal Tally
A personal tally can be programmed with data that identifies a specific breathing apparatus wearer. The tally can also be
programmed with a countdown time. The full data that can be programmed on to the tally is:
Name Up to 12 characters (up to 17 if organization is left blank)
Personal ID number 0 to 4000
Organization (Brigade ID) Up to 5 characters
Countdown time 0 to 240 minutes
Personal tallies are programmed using the PSS

Merlin
®
Datalog Software (contact Dräger for details). Once programmed, the
information is written on to the tally with a permanent marker pen.
F.2.1 Using a Personal Tally with Telemetry
Insert the normal telemetry tally into a channel slot. After the tally has been
read, remove the tally from the slot and replace with the personal tally within
one minute.
The data on the tally is read by the board, and wearer’s personal data is saved to
the datalog. The personal tally should then remain in the channel slot and be
removed for log off as normal.
F.2.2 Using a Personal Tally with the Countdown Timer
To allow monitoring of wearers who are not equipped with a compatible telemetry
breathing apparatus, the countdown timer of a personal tally can be used.
Insert the personal tally into an available channel slot on the board.
When the tally is inserted, the board reads the programmed countdown time (e.g.
30 min) and displays it on the channel screen. The timer will commence
countdown in 1 minute steps. The on-line radio icon will not illuminate,
indicating that there is no telemetry monitoring.
When one third of the countdown time has elapsed, 66% flashes on the channel
screen and a single double-beep sounds. (A similar signal occurs when 33% of
the countdown time remains.)
Acknowledge the signals by pressing the channel evacuation button . Once
the signal is acknowledged, the channel screen reverts to show the remaining
countdown time.
NOTICE
If the telemetry tally is removed before logon is achieved, the board reads
and activates the countdown time programmed on the personal tally (see
Using a Personal Tally with Countdown Timer below). Once logon is
complete, the countdown time is replaced by normal telemetry data.
