Additional Entry Control Board Functions
When the countdown time reaches zero, a single double-beep sounds and 0 appears on the
channel screen. The timer continues and negative time is displayed until the tally is removed.
F.2.3 Changing the Countdown Time
At any time after inserting the personal tally, press and hold the channel evacuation
button until the red LED above flashes. The status display changes to show TIME 000.
Enter a new countdown time of 1 to 240 minutes using the numeric keypad, and then press
the enter key to confirm. (If a countdown time of 0 is entered, the change is cancelled
and the channel reverts to the previous countdown time.)
The new countdown time is set on the channel and the timing of the 66% and 33% signals is automatically reset.
F.3 Serial Number Tally
A serial number tally is programmed with a serial number that identifies a specific
breathing apparatus set. The serial number has up to 20 alpha-numeric
characters and can be programmed using the PSS
®
Merlin
®
Datalog Software
(contact Dräger for details). Once programmed, the information is written on to the
tally with a permanent marker pen.
The tally is used with breathing apparatus sets that do not have telemetry. The
tally provides an elapsed time count but can be replaced by a personal tally to
provide a countdown timer if required:
Insert the serial number tally into a channel slot. The serial number on the tally is
read by the board and saved in the Entry Control Board datalog. The on-line radio
icon will not illuminate, indicating that there is no telemetry monitoring. The timer
will count up in 1 minute steps (see Appendix D on Page 39 for manual
operation).
For countdown timing, remove the tally from the slot and replace with a
personal tally (see Using a Personal Tally with the Countdown Timer:
Section F.2.2 on Page 49).
Attach the serial number tally to the breathing apparatus set when it is not in use.
F.4 Tally Write Protection (Pass Code)
A four-digit pass code (e.g. 9999) can be set to prevent unauthorized use of the “Tally Write”
function (see Encoding a Tally: Section 6.4 on Page 23). The pass code is set using the PSS
®
Merlin
®
Datalog Software (contact Dräger for details).
If a pass code is set, when TALLY WR is selected, the display changes to show PAS 0000 with
the numeric characters flashing.
Enter the correct pass code and then press the enter key .
The write function is unlocked. The display changes to show ID 00000 with the numeric
characters flashing, and encoding then operates as normal.
