In ESS mode, the UPS’s detection and control algorithms continuously monitor the incoming power quality
to enable quick mode switching. The UPS can transfer to Online mode in less than 2 ms.
When the input power supply is within acceptable limits, the UPS operates in a high-efficiency energy
saving mode, protecting the equipment and supplying pure power to the equipment. The Energy Saver
System increases system efficiency up to 99 % when supplying 20–100 % of the rated load.

In Online mode and ESS mode, the UPS supplies power to the load through batteries or other stored
energy sources if AC power is interrupted or if it is not in compliance with the specified parameters. The
front panel shows the UPS status Battery Mode, and the UPS is in In Service state. In Battery mode
the battery provides emergency DC power, which is converted to regulated output power by the inverter.
Figure
9: Path of current through the UPS in Battery mode shows the path of electrical power through the
UPS system when the UPS is operating in Battery mode.
