7.2.1 Embedded Management Channel
The MXU makes it possible to transport operation and maintenance data
between isolated sub-networ ks i n an available time slot in the 2 Mbit/s traffic.
However, time slot 0 is reserved according to ITU-T Rec G.704. The MXU can
be connected to the MMU (O&M connector), as described below, or to the
SAU (RAC connector).
The figure below shows how the left-hand M XU arranges operation and
maintenance data from a sub-networ k into one of the 64 kbit/s time slots.
Merged infor mation can be transported over any medium, for instance leased
line, to the right-hand M XU. The M XU separates traffic and operation and
maintenance data, which then can be supervised by MINI-LINK Netman.
