3.8 Understanding the drive belt
WARNING
Always remove the battery before starting to do adjustments,
assembly, service or maintenance on the pedelec. The system could
switch itself on unexpectedly and you could be seriously injured.
CAUTION
Check the drive belt for signs of wear before every trip. A worn or
damaged drive belt can break. It that happens while you are riding
thebikeyoucouldbethrownoandseriouslyinjured.
Do not twist, bend, reverse, turn backwards, tie or bind the
belt. This may destroy the belt.
3.7.2 Checking for wear
1. Remove the pedelec battery.
2. Check chain wear with a chain wear indicator or a vernier calliper.
3. Replace the chain if it is worn.
3.7.3 Cleaning and maintenance
Lubricate the chain after riding in the rain. Clean and
lubricate it when you clean the wheel.
1. Remove the pedelec battery.
2. Roughly brush the chain with a hand brush.
3. Then remove the old chain oil with a dry cloth.
4. You can now lubricate chain. How you lubricate the chain
depends on the product you have chosen.
