IV.II Lighting
In Germany the requirements for lighting on bikes is regulated in Section
67oftheRoadTracLicensingRegulation(StVZO)andintheTechnical
Requirements for vehicle parts. Lighting includes both battery and
dynamo-powered lights.

Front light 1 Front White light
The illuminance must be at least 10 lux at
the center of the beam at a distance of 10
meters.
Rear light 1 Back Red light
The lowest point of the illuminating surface
must not be lower than 9.75 inches above
the road surface.
A standlight function is also permitted

Bikesshallbeequippedwithreectivedevicestopermitrecognitionand
identicationunderilluminationfrommotorvehicleheadlamps.Inthe

therequiredreectors,aswellasasmallselectionofcharacteristicswhich
