Jacksupportpoint, rear axle (vehicles 5.0t)

Place thejackbeneaththe jacksupport
point.

Vehicles with all-wheel drive: turnjack
spindle 2 counter-clockwise as farasitwill
go.
#
Raise thevehicle until thetireisraised amax‐
imum of 1.2in(3cm) offthe ground.
#
Loosen and remove thewheel (/ page234).
Removing awheel
Requirements:

The vehicle is raised (/ page232).
When changing awheel, avoid applying any
forcetothe brakediscs since this could
impair thelevelofcomfort when braking.

NOTE Damage to threadingfromdirton
wheel bolts
#
Do notplace wheel boltsinsandorona
dirty surface.
#
Unscrew thewheel bolts or nuts withthe
wheelnut wrench.
#
On front wheels withwheel nuts, remove the
wheel nut cover.
#
Remove thewheel.
Installing anew wheel
Requirements:

The wheel is removed(/page234).

WARNING Risk of accident from losing a
wheel
Oiled, greased or damaged wheel bolt/wheel
nut threads or wheel hub/wheel mounting
bolt threads can cause thewheel bolts/wheel
nuts to come loose.
As aresult, youcouldlose awheel while driv‐
ing.

Neveroil or grease thethreads.
#
In theevent of damagetothe threads,
contact aqualified specialistworkshop
immediately.
#
Have thedamaged wheel bolts or dam‐
aged hub threads replaced.
#
Do notcontinue driving.

WARNING Risk of injury from tightening
wheelbolts and nuts
If youtighten thewheel bolts or wheel nuts
when thevehicle is raised, thejackcould tip.
#
Onlytighten wheel bolts or wheel nuts
when thevehicle is on theground.
#
Observe thenotes on thechoice of tires
(/ page228).

Forsafetyreasons, onlyuse wheel boltsor
wheel nutswhichhavebeen approvedby
Freightliner Sprinter and forthe wheel in
question.
When youinstall thesteel sparewheel, it is
essential youuse shortwheel boltsfor asteel
wheel. Using other wheel bolts when installing
thesteel sparewheel maylead to damagetothe
brakesystem.
