6.7 Switching the server off
Switching off the server from the operating system
The Power-on indicator (item 1 in figure 5 on page 44) lights up green.
Ê Establish a Remote Desktop connection as described in section 6.3.3 on
page 49.
Ê Shut down the operating system properly.
The server is switched off automatically.
I If the operating system does not switch off the server automatically, press
the On/Off button for at least five seconds to send a control signal for
power button override.

6.8 Other On/Off options
Besides the On/Off button, the server can be switched ON and OFF in the
following ways:
– Timer-controlled switch-on/off
Using the ServerView Operations Manager, you can configure that the
server is switched on/off controlled by the internal timer.
– Wake up On LAN (WOL)
Allows the server to be switched on or woken up by a network command
(Magic Packet
TM
). WOL functionality is enabled in the BIOS by default.
– After power failure
The server automatically reboots following a power failure.
