Rocket 4D Evaporation System
04-7848 Issue 2-4 August 2014 41
Coolant feed and return hoses
Waste solvent drain hoses
Blue hoses with black foam insulation are
supplied to connect the re-circulating chiller.
Connect the insulated coolant feed hoses to
the coolant in and coolant out connectors on
the Rocket 4D.
Coolant hoses
Connect the other end of the coolant hoses
to the re-circulating chiller.
Make sure the chiller feed connects to the
Rocket 4D feed, and the chiller return
connects to the Rocket 4D return.
Using the foam insulation covers supplied,
insulate the chiller connections and secure
with Velcro (to avoid condensation, it is
important to make sure the connectors are
insulated fully).
Connect 8 mm OD PTFE hoses to each of
the two drain outlets. Cut the hoses to a
suitable length and connect them to the
waste solvent container.
The drain hoses must allow unimpeded
drainage of the condenser. The waste
container must be below the level of the
waste outlet, there must be no sharp bends,
loops or upward inclination of the drain
hoses and the waste container must have
sufficient capacity to handle solvent
throughput.
To prevent drain failure or the possibility of
waste solvent being drawn back up the
hoses, make sure the end of the hoses are
above the maximum waste solvent level.
Connections to the waste solvent container
(if supplied) are designed to seal so that
vapour does not leak. The second hose
allows the waste container to vent to the
laboratory fume extraction system.
