2.13 GPS antenna
When a GPS antenna (1146) is used, the GPS data for the current device location are entered in the P-
line after rH_i and Temp_i. They can be read using a terminal programme or the GRIMM Windows 1178
software. With the GRIMM Windows 1178 software, note that receiving GPS data has to be checked off
in the software.
The GPS antenna must have a clear line of sight to the sky so GPS data can be received.
When the GPS antenna is connected, it may take several minutes before data are re-
ceived and the GPS mouse knows its location. It then passes this position on to the de-
vice.

2.14 Filter chamber
11-R series devices have a filter chamber on the bottom
of the device as standard equipment. The filter chamber
must be equipped with a special 47mm PTFE filter. There
is a bayonet closure on the filter chamber that can be
opened and closed without the use of tools. The two O-
rings on the filter chamber should be inspected regularly
for cracks and aging. If the O-rings on the filter chamber
are defective, external air may be drawn in which falsifies
the flow of sample air through the laser measuring cham-
ber.
