5.8.4.3 AP/MBP Volute R&R
In addition to gasket/O-ring failure the volute requires removal to examine or access internal
pump components (clearance rings, impeller, mechanical seal, etc.). See Figure 26 for AP volute
removal. Typically the volute would not require replacement unless it has been damaged by al-
lowing the pump to freeze with water in it or a large piece of debris was allowed into the pump by
not using or maintaining strainers.
