6. Driving Procedures
34
Do not run the engine in enclosed spaces without proper ventilation or exhaust extraction.
Failure to comply will result in serious or fatal injuries.
1. No one is near the tractor.
2. Drive direction switch is in neutral.
3. Drive program switch is set to 0.
4. Parking brake is engaged.
5. Hand throttle is released.
To start the engine:
Warning: Start the engine only from the driver's seat and with cab doors closed. Failure to
comply could result in serious or fatal injuries.
Inch pedal
Note: The inch pedal allows the operator to control the ground speed of the tractor within a
gear-specific speed range. The amount of pressure applied to the inch pedal is proportional to
the amount of force applied to the gear system. The more pressure your apply to the inch
pedal, the greater the reduction in speed will be. If you need to slow down while operating
the tractor, you can use the inch pedal. It is possible in all driving programs and directions. If
you press the inch pedal all the way down, the tractor will abruptly come to a complete stop.
Caution: Use the inch pedal as prescribed to maintain control over the tractor and avoid
accidents.
1. Press the inch pedal completely down to actuate the starting safety switch. If the inch pedal is not
in the right position (completely down), the starting safety switch will not turn on.
Note: The ignition switch has four sequential positions: position 1 - tractor off, position 2 -
ignition on, position 3 - engine preheating, position 4 - engine running.
2. Using the ignition key, set the ignition switch into position 2 to start the ignition.
3. Ensure that the battery, engine oil pressure, and parking brake indicators in the instrument panel
light up.
4. Using the ignition key, set the ignition switch into position 3. Hold the key in position 3 until the
glow plug indicator in the instrument panel turns off. If the outside temperature is below
C/32°F, preheat the engine for one minute longer.
5. Using the ignition key, set the ignition switch into position 4. The engine starts, and the operating
hours counter activates.
