9. Getting ready to work with attachments
60
Warning: Failure to comply with the following guidelines could result in serious or fatal
injuries, and damage to the tractor.
l When attaching implements to the front and rear three-point linkages, never exceed the
permissible gross weight, the permissible axle loads or the tire load capacity of the tractor.
l Always load the front axle of the tractor with at least 20% and the rear axle with at least 25% of
the tractor's curb weight.
1. Make sure that these requirements are satisfied before purchasing the implement.
2. Carry out the following calculations or weight the tractor-implement combination.
T
L
curb weight of the tractor
T
V
front axle load of the empty tractor
T
H
rear axle load of the empty tractor
G
H
total weight of a rear attachment, rear weight
G
V
total weight of a front attachment, front weight
a
distance between the center of gravity of a front attachment, front weight and the center of the front
axle
b wheelbase of the tractor
c distance between the center of the rear axle and the center of the lower link ball
d distance between the lower link ball center and a rear attachment center of gravity, rear weight
1. Calculate the minimum front weight (G
V min
) according to the following formula:
G
V min
= (G
H
x (c + d) - T
V
x b + 0.2 x T
L
x b) / (a + b)
2. Calculate the minimum rear weight (G
H min
)according to the following formula:
G
H min
= (G
V
x a - T
H
x b + 0.25 x T x b ) / (b + c + d)
3. Calculate the actual front axle load (T
V tat
) according to the following formula:
T
V tat
= (G
V
x (a + b) + T
V
x b - G
H
x (c + d)) / b
If the front attachment (GV) does not provide the necessary minimum front weight (GV min), the
weight of the front attachment must be increased to the weight of the minimum front weight.
4. Calculate the actual total weight (G
tat
) according to the following formula:
G
tat
= G
V
+ T
L
+ G
H
If the rear attachment (GH) does not provide the necessary minimum rear weight(GH min), the weight
of the rear attachment must be increased to the weight of the minimum rear weight.
