Section 1: Overview
The Emergency Communication System Packages are a combination of the addressable fire alarm control panel and voice integration control
all in one package. The general idea of the Emergency Communication System is to activate a message giving building occupants instruc-
tions about an emergency event. This manual contains information on how to install and operate the following Emergency Communication
System Packages:
1.1 Compatible EVS Series Equipment
This manual also contains information on how to install the following compatible equipment with the ECS series control panels.
1.2 ECS Features
• Single enclosure for both Fire and Emergency Voice System components
• Onboard supervised microphone
• Supports 25 Vrms or 70.7 Vrms speaker circuits using EVS-50WEVS-INT50W, or EVS-100W-. Supports 25 Vrms using -125W
• Voice Control Module (EVS-VCM)
– 5820XL-EVS and 6820EVS support one EVS-VCM.
– Built-in Digital Message Repeater
– 15 one-minute ECS Messages
• SBUS Addressable Amplifiers
– 5820XL-EVS and 6820EVS systems support a combination of up to four EVS-INT50W, EVS-50W, EVS-100W, and EVS-125W
amplifiers with a maximum of 500 watts per system.
• Local Operator Console (LOC)
– 5820XL-EVS systems support up to four EVS-RCU consoles.
– 6820EVS systems support up to four EVS-LOC consoles.
• Mappable Speaker Circuits
– 5820XL-EVS and 6820EVS systems support up to 32 mappable speaker circuits using a combination of EVS-50W, EVS-100W, and
EVS-125W amplifiers and EVS-CE4 expanders.
• Backup Amplifier
– EVS-100W amplifiers are capable of providing 100 watts of backed up audio power with the addition of the EVS-100WBU.
• ECS messages can be selected as priority over fire.
• Programmable trigger inputs from an external source to the EVS-RVM, 5880, any SLC input module, or Flexput module.
