Upgrade

Caution
A static charge
of
almost 40,000 volts can be generated on a
carpeted floor. This exceeds
the
limits of these RAM boards
and can cause unsuccessful operation or damage.
Integrated circuits on printed circuit boards can be damaged by
electrostatic discharge.
Use
the
following precautions:
• Use
the
grounding wrist
strap
supplied with
the
upgrade.
Follow the instructions printed on the
strap's
package.
• Do not wear
clot~i~g
subject
to
static charge buildup, such
as wool or
synthetic materials.
• Do not handle integrated circuits in carpeted areas.
• Do not remove
the
device from its anti-static
bag
until you
are ready
to
install
it.
• Avoid touching circuit leads as much as possible.
RAM boards must be removed from the highest-numbered slots
first.

Preliminary
Requirements
Before you go inside
the
controller, refer
to
Chapter 1 and:
1.
Shut down
the
application program and operating system.
2. Turn
OFF
the
controller.
3. Remove all cables and· cords attached
to
the controller and attached
expander(s) .
4.
If
rack mounted, remove
the
controller and expanders,
if
attached, from
the
rack.
5.
Remove
the
controller's
top
cover.
Go on
to
the next page and begill.
