Cabling
This section describes cabling options for high-availability multipathing configurations for EVA storage
systems.
Level 4 NSPOF configuration
Figure 67 through Figure 71 show cabling options when implementing a level 4, high-availability,
NSPOF configuration. For a description of availability levels, see “Data availability” on page 53.
Figure 67 shows the physical connections for a cross-cable, high-availability NSPOF configuration
for EVA3000/5000 VCS 3x storage systems using two separate fabrics. This cabling is the same
cabling scheme used for HP Continuous Access EVA. You can upgrade to an HP Continuous Access
EVA solution without needing to re-cable controller connections.
The cross-cable configuration shown in Figure 67 is also supported for non-HP Continuous Access
EVA storage systems with VCS 3.x.

Figure 68 shows the physical connections for a straight-cable, high-availability NSPOF configuration
for EVA4000/4100/6000/6100 and EVA3000/5000 VCS 4x storage systems. This cabling scheme
supports non-HP Continuous Access EVA configurations and HP Continuous Access EVA configurations
with EVA4000/4100/6000/6100 and EVA3000/5000 VCS 4x storage systems. This configuration
is not supported with HP Continuous Access EVA for EVA3000/5000 VCS 3x storage systems.
