Belt Splicing System v.2.0
Symptom & Possible Causes Action to Take
Difficult to pull belt onto the Fixture
Belt tension too high 1. Ensure belt is cut to proper length.
2. Clamp belt to conveyor frame near Clamping Fixture to eliminate pull on belt ends.
3. Adjust conveyor components to minimize tension.
Drive bars snagging on Clamping Fixture
or C- or F-clamps
Angle cardboard from Clamping Fixture edge to conveyor frame to allow the belt to slide
onto Fixture.
Adjust clamps as needed.
Request assistance for handling wide belts.
Belt end extends too far/too little past Grooved Deck edge
Drive bars not engaged 1. Clean debris from belt ends.
2. Clear debris from grooves in Deck and Cut Guide.
3. Engage drive bars in Cut Guide or Grooved Deck before securing.
Wrong Cut Guide used Repeat belt end preparation using the blue S8026 Cut Guide for 26 mm pitch belt or red S8050
Cut Guide for 50 mm pitch belt.
Belt end edges are offset (horizontal misalignment)
Ends different widths If belt end widths are within 1/8" (3 mm) of each other, center the narrow belt end across
from the wide belt end.
If belt end widths are more than 1/8" (3 mm) different from each other, contact Intralox Tech-
nical Support.
FABRICATION TIP
Slight dimension differences, within 1/16" (1.5 mm) on each edge
(or 1/8" (3 mm) total belt width), are acceptable when splicing belts.
Belt end top surfaces are offset (vertical misalignment)
Thumb knobs not tightened evenly Adjust thumb knobs to increase or decrease Cut Guide pressure on belt ends until belt top sur-
faces are flush.
