3.6.1 General Options (1)
Sawyer Login – Causes the program to ask for a login
name before starting.
Oce Mode – Enables the program to function on a
computer that is not connected to the saw. If this option
is checked on the computer at the saw, you will not
be able to cut lumber, and you will get error messages
about lost communications links.
NOTE
If this option is checked on the computer at the saw,
it will not be able to cut lumber.
Metric Units – Enables the saw to receive information
and to display in metric units.
JobName = TRSname – Changes the job name that
prints out and shows on the screen to be the same as
the name of the *.TRS le.
Strip Truss Description – The truss naming convention
in some plants can create very long truss names. When
these names become too long or contain certain
characters, they can interfere with certain operations
of the ALS program. This option will strip the truss
description from the *.TRS le. Discuss this option with
your supervisor before turning it on. Do not check both
this option and the Strip Layout Tag option. You must
choose one or the other. See Printer Options if you do
not want a truss description printed.
Strip Layout TagThe cut data le (*.TRS) contains two
truss ID’s. One is automatically assigned by the VIEW
Layout Program and the other is assigned by engineers
in your oce. This option removes the layout ID to
reduce confusion. Most companies turn this option on.
Return waste lengthThis denes if waste ejects to
infeed (when waste longer or equal to set value) or
outfeed side. For system with auto infeed this setting
set to 99-0-0 to make sure it never ejects waste back to
infeed side.
3.6.2 Optimization Options (2)
When this option is checked,
the computer will choose from all pieces of the same
size without regard to grade requirement. You will need
to make sure that the highest grade required for the
job is available. This will improve the waste factor but
should be used carefully to make sure that lower grade
lumber is not used on pieces requiring higher grades.
Turns on the feature that
causes the saw to review multiple stock pieces and
choose the stock that produces the least waste. Stock
pieces to be used can be chosen or revised from the
Change Stock screen.
This button will allow you
to turn o the ability to match grade and size when
the Multiple Stock Pieces option is on. This option only
aects the way the Multiple Stock option functions.
When this option is o, the computer will choose from
the multiple stock lists on the basis of the various
Multiple Stock lengths only. The saw will tell you when
to change sizes of lumber.
