15. Remove masking tape from valve cap threads and clean the threads on the valve cap. Carefully thread
the top cap onto the valve assembly. Tighten securely, do not apply excessive force.
16. Reinstall the low-pressure supervisory switch and pressure gauge assemblies on Mv and Lv Series valve
assemblies.
7.3.3 Recharge Procedure
Make sure the anti-recoil safety device/plug is in place on the discharge outlet before charging the cylinder with
dry chemical or nitrogen.
NOTE: e valve shall be cleaned internally with the piston seated in the closed position prior to recharging.
1. See nameplate for fill weight and fill to a minimum of the stamped fill weight and no more than 5
pound (2.26 kg) above the stamped fill weight.
2. Prior to opening the 50 lb (22.67 kg) dry chemical bucket (P/N 26680), turn it on its side and roll it
back and forth 50 times to loosen up the contents.
3. Attach the cone filling adapter (P/N 97517) to the top of the 50 lb (22.67 kg) dry chemical bucket.
4. Remove the fill cap on the cylinder.
5. Lift the dry chemical bucket up and insert the cone into the fill cap connection on the cylinder.
6. Wait for all of the contents to exit the bucket prior to removing.
7. Repeat the previous five steps until the correct dry chemical fill is reached.
8. oroughly clean and ensure both the male and female threads of the fill cap are free of all foreign
materials and dry chemical powder.
9. Replace the o-ring on the fill cap and reinsert the fill cap back onto the cylinder
10. e pressure gauge on the cylinder shall not be used to determine when the proper charge pressure has
been reached. A pressure regulator must be used when the pressure source is a tank of high pressure gas.
11. Pressurize cylinder with dry nitrogen to required pressure based on the ambient temperature. Add
nitrogen as necessary until the required pressure is reached using the valve closing adapter (P/N 17292).
12. e procedure to pressurize the valve is:
A) Set the regulator on the nitrogen supply used to close the valve to 550 psi (38 bar).
B) Charge the cylinder with nitrogen until the required pressure is reacher.
13. Let cylinder assembly stand for 3 hours and check for leaks using a soap solution.
14. Check cylinder gauge pressure based on pressure temperature chart.
