Lower Arm (Wishbone)
Removal and Replacement
1 Apply the park brake and chock the rear wheels.
Disconnect the battery.
!MWARNING
A raised and badly supported machine can fall on you.
Position the machine on a firm, level surface before
raising one end. Ensure the other end is securely
chocked. Do not rely solely on the machine hydraulics
or jacks to support the machine when working under
it.
Disconnect the battery, to prevent the engine being
started while you are beneath the machine.

2 Raise and safely support the machine. Remove the
roadwheel.
3 Disconnect the steering tie-rod outer ball joint from
the kingpin, see Section ‘H’ Steering - Rack and
Pinion Steering Gear.
Note: The kingpin may be left in position until the
suspension arm is removed.
4 Remove the lower link bolt from the spring/damper
assembly, while supporting the weight of the lower
arm, K

5 Remove the chassis pivot bolts and remove the lower
arm from the chassis, K
Fig 1. ( T S-8). Discard the
nyloc nuts.
Replacing Bushes
Inspect the rubber bushes for wear, damage or signs of
ageing.
Also remove the kingpin, see Section ‘H’ Steering -
Kingpins. There are two phosphor-bronze bushes fitted
into the suspension arm swivel boss. Inspect for wear or
damage.
Rubber Bush Replacement
Use a suitable press to remove the old bushes and to
insert new ones.
Phosphor-Bronze Bush Replacement
Tap out the old bushes and press in the new ones. Take
care not to damage the bore of the swivel boss when
removing worn bushes.
Note: If the pivot pin cannot be inserted into the new
bushes with a good sliding fit, then the bushes will require
in-line reaming:
