Adjusting the Drive Chain Tension
Park the machine on a level surface, but do not engage the
park brake. Stop the engine and remove the starter key.
Set the forward/reverse lever to Neutral and set the
differential lock to OFF.
Use safe lifting equipment to raise the machine far enough
to block the wheels clear of the ground.
Raise the load bay.
At the rearmost wheel on each side of the machine, loosen
the four fasteners 20-A.
On each side of the machine, turn adjuster 20-B to take up
the slack in the chain. Adjust until the tension on both sides
are equal and within limits.
Evenly tighten fasteners 20-A to a torque of 74 Nm (55 lbf
ft). Recheck the tensions and repeat the above procedure
if they are either different or outside limits.
Once the tensions remain correct, rotate the drive wheels
approximately 120 deg and recheck the tensions. Make
sure there are no tight spots as the wheels rotate. If the
tensions remain correct, repeat this procedure twice more.
If no change occurs, the adjustment is complete. (If there
are tight spots, contact your JCB Distributor.)
