SECTION 5 - DISPLAY MESSAGES
SEC SSS: High Line Voltage
The liquid cooled solid state starter logic/trigger board
has detected that the compressor motor AC power
line voltage, in any phase, exceeded the high line
voltage threshold continuously for twenty (20) sec-
onds. The chiller will automatically restart when the
voltage in all phases reaches the restart level. Thresh-
olds are shown in Table 5 on Page 118.

SEC SSS: Low Line Voltage
The liquid cooled solid state starter logic/trigger board
has detected that the compressor motor AC power line
voltage, in any phase, decreased below the low line
voltage threshold continuously for twenty (20) sec-
onds. Thresholds are shown in Table 6 on Page 118.

SEC SSS: Open SCR
An open Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) has been
detected by the Solid State Starter Logic/Trigger Board.
The open condition must exist continuously for 5 sec-
onds in order to annunciate the fault. The chiller can
be started after the condition has been corrected and
the COMPRESSOR switch is placed in the Stop-Reset
(O) position. This check is disabled when the chiller
is shut down. In certain applications, local power line
conditions could interfere with the open SCR detection
technique.
SEC SSS: Phase X Shorted SCR
A shorted Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) in phase
A, B or C (designated as X in the message) has been
detected by the Liquid Cooled Solid State Starter
Logic/Trigger Board. The voltage across each SCR in
monitored to detect the shorted condition. The shorted
condition must exist continuously for 5 seconds in or-
der to annunciate the fault. This check is disabled while
the chiller is running. In order to initiate restart, the
control panel’s reset button must be pressed.
SEC SSS: Phase X Inhibit High Temperature
The Liquid Cooled Solid State Starter Logic/Trigger
Board has detected that the temperature of phase A, B,
or C (designated as X in this message) Silicon Con-
trolled Rectifier (SCR) module is greater than 110°F.
The starter cooling pump will run and the chiller will
be inhibited from starting until the temperature de-
creases to less than 109°F. Message shows when con-
ditions exist, but clears when less than 109°F, regard-
less of start command.
SEC SSS: Phase X High Temperature
The chiller is stopped and the Liquid Cooled Solid
State Starter Logic/Trigger Board has detected that the
temperature of phase A, B, or C (designated as X in this
message) Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) module is
greater than 110°F. The starter cooling pump will run
and the chiller will be inhibited from starting until the
temperature decreases to less than 109°F.
SEC SSS: Phase X Open Thermocouple
The phase thermocouple is reporting an open condi-
tion, check wiring or replace the thermocouple.
SEC SSS: Serial Receive
After communications have been successfully estab-
lished in the INITIALIZATION process, the Con-
trol Center initiates a data transmission to the Liquid
Cooled Solid State Starter on the serial communica-
tions link every 2 seconds. After these communications
have been established, if the Control Center does not
receive a reply within 3 consecutive attempts, a shut-
down is performed. This same shutdown is performed
if the Liquid Cooled Solid State Starter does not receive
