Section 17: Calibration Model 6482 Dual-Channel Picoammeter / Voltage Source Reference Manual
Verification limits
The verification limits listed in this section have been calculated using only the Model 6482 one-
year accuracy specifications, and they do not include test equipment uncertainty. If a particular
measurement falls outside of the allowable range, recalculate new limits based on Model 6482
specifications and corresponding test equipment specifications.
Example limits calculation
As an example of how verification limits are calculated, assume you are testing the 2 mA range
with a 1.9 mA input current. Using the Model 6482 one-year accuracy specification of ±(0.1 % of
reading + 2 µA offset), the calculated reading limits are:
Limits = 1.9 mA ± [(1.9 mA × 0.1%) + 2 µA]
Limits = 1.9 mA ± (1.9 μA + 2 µA)
Limits = 1.9 mA ± 3.9 μA
Limits = 1.8961 mA to 1.9039 mA
Restoring factory defaults
Before performing the verification procedures, restore the instrument to its factory front-panel
bench defaults as follows:
1. Press the MENU key. The instrument will display the following prompt:
MAIN MENU
SAVESETUP COMMUNICATION CAL
2. Select SAVESETUP and press the ENTER key. The instrument then displays:
SAVESETUP MENU
SAVE RESTORE POWERON RESET
3. Select RESET and press the ENTER key. The instrument displays:
RESET ORIGINAL DFLTS
BENCH GPIB
4. Select BENCH and press the ENTER key to restore bench defaults.
