service manual vs 9 44
2.6.4. Unidrive tandem operation
Motorunit for UniDrive Tandem operator (article number KM885678).
An extra application on the UniDrive operator for heavier doors.
Built into the UWS 2400 rail, to drive doors with a weight of:
max. 2 x 180 kg
max. 1 x 270 kg
Add extra carriers on to the top of the doors (per carrier 60 kg; 180 kg = 3 carriers, etc).
Construction
The 2nd (tandem) motor is mounted into the rail with a special bracket, including the tensioner for the belt,
besides the subframe. (The existing endwheel has to removed).
The subframe is about 300mm longer now;
The sliding nuts are pushed into the mounting rail and fixed by turning them clockwise.
Connection
The 2nd motor is connected to the master motor in serial (see diagram on next page)
Encoder: The master encoder is connected to the control unit.
The slave encoder is not used and not connected.
Set
1. UniDrive motor with mounting plate and pulley (excl. encoder
cable),
2. Toothed belt; length 7000 mm (extra length subframe/motor-
endwheel: + 380mm)
3. Instruction
4. Adaption to link both motors to the control unit.
Adjustments
After switching on the line power the UniDrive is starting up.
Next the UniDrive PGS is forced on “open” position to be able to program
the right motor type: see Manual UniDrive.
Safety
After initialisation the control unit calculates the right door weight.
Next the computer will choose the heaviest door weight level [7] (door weight 210-240kg).
The maximum speeds for level 7 are now active. (90%).
The use of two motors has following consequences:
1. It is possible now to adjust a higher speed as acceptable.
2. The static driven force will be 2x higher (300N!)
3. The safety reverse is 2x insensible now!
Conclusion:
The door-installation needs additional safeties (use a risk analysis)!
Advisable doorspeed! (with Psion):
Door weight (kg) Max. Open speed Max. Close speed
240-280 58% 40%
280-320 52% 36%
320-360 46% 30%
Use in public buildings:
Use safety devices to prevent persons being hit by the door (by using manual safety solutions).
Use in NOT public buildings:
Discuss safeties with the end user (f.e. instructions or text on the door).
