Use this information to install a system fan.

Before installing a system fan, touch the static-protective package that contains the new system fan to any
unpainted surface on the outside of the server. Then, take the new system fan out of the package and place
it on a static-protective surface.
To install a system fan, complete the following steps:

Step 1. Align the support holes of the system fan with the two pins in the chassis, and press it straight
down until it is seated into place.
Note: Ensure that the system fan cable is at the side next to the system board.
Step 2. Connect the system fan cable to the system fan connector on the system board.
After installing the system fan, complete the parts replacement. See “Complete the parts replacement” on
page 144.
