Radio Fr e que n cy Ex posure
The Serial Port Adapt er contains a sm all radio t ransm itt er and receiver. During
com m unication wit h ot her Bluetooth products t he Serial Port Adapter receives and t ransm it s
radio frequency ( RF) elect rom agnetic fields (m icrowaves) in the frequency range 2400 to
2500 MHz. The output power of the radio t ransm itt er is very low.
When using t he Serial Port Adapt er, you will be exposed t o som e of the transm itt ed RF
energy. This exposure is w ell below t he prescribed lim its in all nat ional and international RF
safet y st andards and regulations.
Ele ct ronic Equ ipm e n t
Most m odern electronic equipm ent, for exam ple, in hospit als and cars, is shielded from RF
energy. However, certain electronic equipment is not. Therefore:

Please insure that all m edical devices used in proxim it y t o t his device m eet appropriate
suscept ibilit y specifications for this t ype of RF energy.
Potent ially Ex plosive At m osph e r e s
Turn off your elect ronic device when in any area wit h potentially explosive at m osphere. I t is
rare, but your elect ronic device could generat e spar ks. Sparks in such areas could cause an
explosion or fire result ing in bodily inj ury or even deat h.
Areas with a pot ent ially explosive at m osphere are often, but not always, clearly m arked.
They include fuelling areas, such as pet rol stat ion, below deck on boats, fuel or chem ical
t ransfer or stor age facilit ies, and areas where t he air cont ains chem icals or part icles, such as
grain, dust, or m et al powders.
