party Bluetoot h adapters will drop a connect ion for no apparent
reason. This effect can be test ed by connecting t o t he Trackit and swit ching ongoings on. This
produces a lot of predom inant ly one-way traffic. The connection should never be dropped. This
effect has been found using the Belkin F8T001 Bluet oot h USB Adapt er. The problem has been
fixed by inst alling a later version of the Widcom m Sdk.dll in the system 32 folder. Version
1.4.1.6 or lat er seem s to fix the problem .
3. I t has been found t hat som e 3

part y Bluet ooth adapt ers will drop a connection when t he
Trackit Bluetoot h is set up for m ult i-drop support, even when t here is only one connection. This
effect has been found using the Belkin F8T001. The solut ion is to eit her disable m ult i-drop on
the Trackit Bluetoot h Module or to m ake t he Belkin device Undiscoverable AND Unconnectable.
This effect has not been found on other devices so far – t he TDK and Newlink adapt ers are ok.
4. I t has been found t hat som e 3

part y Bluet ooth adapt ers will not support several sim ult aneous
connections. This has been found on t he Belkin F8T001 which only seem s t o support a single
connection. The TDK adapt er does allow several sim ult aneous connections. I n any event , you
should expect dat a transfers to slow when using sever al sim ultaneous connect ions.
5. Som et im es it m ay appear that your Bluet oot h connect ions in M y Blue t oot h Pla ces or En t ire
Blue t oot h N e ighbour h ood seem to be forgot ten when t he Bluet ooth adapt er is unplugged or
aft er a power- off. Also, you m ay find that you cannot allocate a Com m Port to your connection
(each Trackit Blue x connect ion needs its own Com m Port). The reason for t his is that you have
set up a tem porary connect ion in Ent ir e Blue t oot h N e ighbour hood rat her than a short cut
reference in M y Blue t oot h Pla ce s. Here, connect ion definitions are perm anent and you can
allocate Com m Port s at will. When set t ing up a Trackit connection for the first tim e, you should
use the proper Wizard or other m et hod as provided by t he adapter m anufacturer. I f you find
that you can allocat e a Com m Port t o a connect ion, but t here are not enough virtual Com m
Port s to select from in t he list , check in Device Manager t hat there are enough ports called
“Bluetooth Com m unicat ions Port (COM x) ” for your use. I f not, either use your adapter applica-
tion to add som e m ore or use t he Windows Add/ Rem ove Hardware Wizard t o add “ Ports ( COM
& LPT) ” followed by WI DCOMM.
