Appendix 2: Trackit Mk3 options
Nonin XPOD pulse oximeter
The Nonin XPOD is an in-line pulse oxim et er t hat connects to t he second serial port on t he side of
t he Trackit Mk3, or t he optional AUX input box. Finger probes m ay be purchased locally from
Nonin.

Trackit Mk3 t akes t he digit al out put from the XPOD, and displays it as a DC-analogue signal, along
with a real- t im e num eric display of O
2
saturation and pulse rate. The dat a stored is displayed in t he
range 0–100% .
Addit ionally, for t he Trackit Mk2 and 3 only, an enhanced XPOD will be available that offers Ple-
t hysm ographic pulse dat a.
Note t hat the XPOD oxim et er and Probe take power from t he Trackit Mk3 and t he typical recording
tim e will be reduced by approxim at ely 22% . The lat er version of t he XPOD which is coloured blue
inst ead of grey, is lower- power and only reduces the recording tim e by approxim at ely 13% .
Ideal applications
The XPOD pulse oxim et er can be used ext ensively in sleep studies while m onit oring patients who
suffer from sleep apnoea. The pulse oxim et er is used t o correlat e the corresponding dip in the
blood’s O
2
sat uration wit h an apnoea at t ack.
Pulse oxim et ry is also used in a wide variet y of applicat ions such as hypoxia in children with cent ral
breat hing disorders, hypoxic events during epilept ic seizures, et c.

Requires Version 2.1.x EPROMS, and will work wit h all Trackit variant s. Will also work
wit h optional AUX I nput Box.

Operation
To enable t he pulse oxim eter:
1 Open t he Trackit Cont rol Panel.
2 Click on Advanced Operat ions.
3 Choose Configurat ion from the Sett ings Menu.
4 Copy the code displayed in the configuration dialog and em ail it to your nearest Lifelines dist rib-
ut or.
5 You will receive by return an unlock code that will enable t his feat ure.
