Selecting/adjusting the insulation monitoring device, 24VDC network
Luminell's LED searchlight module is built for optimal light performance along with an effective
EMI-reducing circuit design.
Large capacitors between searchlight 0V and ground is an effective way to reduce emissions
but can also have a negative impact for some insulation monitors that use a measurement
method in the form of a pulsed voltage applied between supply 0V and ground.
It is very important to select and/or adjust the maximum capacitance for the insulation
monitoring device according to the correct total capacitance in the supply network or it will give
an incorrect reading or depending on setpoint, a false earth fault warning.
If any of the below searchlight models are supplied directly by the vessels 24VDC
network, the following capacitance should be considered, the figures apply to a single
searchlight:
