Calling a Radio from a Telephone
Yo u D o T h e Mobile Radio Does
1. If calling a radio located in the general
simulcast area, dial ext. 8400 (from a
PUD phone) or 425-783-8400. This
function is available in the Darrington
area by calling 425-783-8500 and in the
Index area by calling 425-783-8600.
When the tone stops, enter the 6-digit
radio ID. See Appendix A, B, or C.
If the number you are calling is busy or
does not answer, hang up and try again.
OR
2. Caller hears ringing. User has about 10
seconds to answer the call. Follow the
directions for Receiving A Telephone Call.
3. If the radio user answers, carry on
with your conversation in the
normal radio manner.
Private Call Procedures
The Private Call feature allows you to:
• carry on a conversation that is heard by only the two parties involved.
• determine whether the radio that you are calling is in service.
• leave your radio’s ID number with the radio you are calling so that you may
be called back.
• view the calling radio’s ID number before answering.
The private Call feature operates across Talkgroups. If the person you are call-
ing on a Private Call is using a different Talkgroup than you are and that person
does not answer using the Private Call feature, you will NOT hear him or her, but
everyone on the other Talkgroup will. See Answering a Private Call below for details.
You will hear a continuous high-
pitched tone.
The radio generates two go-ahead
beeps when the radio’s PTT Switch is
released. This signals the land-line
party to begin talking.
