Introduction
PUD RADIO OPERATIONS MANUAL: MOBILE
This manual as written for those employees who use 900Mhz mobile radio (MCS
2000) to access the PUD’s radio network system. It gives information and proce-
dures for proper usage. This supplement does not tell how to program or repair
the mobile unit. For that information, see the vendor’s manual.
The sections of the Mobile Radio manual are:
Section V: This section contains information applicable to
General Information the use of mobile radios within the PUD environ-
ment. It answers the questions:
What is the coverage and transmitting distance
of the radio system?
How are the radio ID numbers assigned?
Who will have radios?
What are Talkgroups?
Where do I go for help with my radio?
How does the computerized radio system work?
What happens when the computer system fails?
Identifying controls, switches, indicators, and
connectors
Interpreting the display
Section VI: This section contains information and procedures
Basic Mobile Radio of day-to-day operations of the mobile radio on
Operation the job, including:
Interpreting the mobile radio alert tones
Turning the mobile radio on and off
Selecting a Talkgroup
Transmission procedures
Paging procedures
Telephoning procedures
Private Call procedures
Programmable features
Using the microphone keypad and buttons
