New Message
This menu item allows you to create a new message.
See Writing Text on page 27 for text entry method on your radio.

Sending Messages to Private or Phone
Procedure:
1 From the home screen, press the Menu/OK key.
2 Select Messages → New Message.
3 Enter your message.
4 Press and hold the Menu/OK key, and select Send.
5 Select Send to Private or Send to Phone.
6 Perform one of the following options:
If… Then…
If the number of the recipient is dis-
played,
press and hold the Menu/OK button.
If the number of the recipient is not dis-
played,
perform the following actions:
a Press and hold the Menu/OK button.
b Select a contact from the contact list.
NOTICE: The radio displays
the number of the contact.
c Press and hold the Menu/OK button.

Sending Messages to Groups
Procedure:
1 From the home screen, press the Menu/OK key.
2 Select Messages → New Message.
3 Enter your message.
4 Press and hold the Menu/OK key.
5 Select Send → Send to Group.
6 Select a group that you want to send the message to.

Sending Store and Forward Messages
Prerequisites: Ensure that your service provider enables the Store and Forward feature.
Procedure:
1 From the home screen, press the Menu/OK key.
