8 Maintenance
WARNING!
Do not attempt to repair the ECB. Repair of the ECB must be performed by a person authorized by MSA.
Failure to follow this warning can result in serious personal injury or death.
Repairs must only be carried out by the manufacturer or by a repair service authorized by the manufacturer.
8.1 Daily Checks
Perform a daily visual inspection for deterioration, dirt, cracks, debris, signs of heat- or chemical-related damage or
other visible signs of damage.
Perform the following functional tests daily for every SCBA used.
1. Start the MSA HUB and the ECB.
2. Establish the connection between the devices.
3. Turn on the SCBA.
4. Read in the tally per instructions in chapter 4.7 .
If the SCBA is logged in and the pressure is displayed on the ECB, the devices have passed the functional test.
WARNING!
Do not use the ECB if it does not pass the visual inspection and functional tests. Remove the ECB from service and
contact the local MSA service representative for support.
Failure to follow this warning can result in serious personal injury or death.
8.2 Replacing the Clock Batteries
WARNING!
Batteries must only be replaced in an area free of ignitable concentrations.
Failure to follow this warning can result in serious personal injury or death.
Use 3 batteries 1.5 V, Alkaline, type AA / LR6.
MSA recommends batteries with a temperature range between -18 °C and +55 °C, e.g. Panasonic EVOLTA.
1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the housing
a. Remove the 2 screws using a Phillips PH1 screwdriver.
2. Replace the batteries with 3 new 1.5 V Alkaline batteries, type AA.
NOTE: Review entry positions for batteries to prevent wrong connection.
3. Close the battery compartment.
a. Tighten the 2 screws using a Phillips PH1 screwdriver.
The batteries are replaced.
To set up the clock again, refer to chapter 3.2 .
