To fill the sample loop, the valve is switched to the LOAD position [Figure 4.14]. The needle
continues to aspirate the sample until the entire sample loop is full.

Once the sample loop is full, the Valve is switched to the INJECT position [Figure 4.15]. The running
buffer from the pump now pushes the sample from the Sample Loop to the Flow Cell in the
OpenSPR unit, exposing it to the Sensor Chip. When the valve is switched, the software
automatically logs an injection event.

Every step of the injection process is performed automatically by the XT autosampler. After
each injection, the fluidics and the sampling needle are also automatically washed with the 80%
isopropanol solution present in the wash bottle to avoid sample cross-contamination.
