Chapter 10 Reprocessing the
Accessories
10.1 Summary of reprocessing the accessories
All reusable parts and reprocessing equipment must be
cleaned and high-level disinfected or sterilized after each
use. Otherwise, an infection control risk to the patient and/or
operators can result.
The following accessories are not cleaned or disinfected with the endoscope
during reprocessing of the endoscope. Reprocess these accessories according
to the instruction manual for the accessories.
This section includes cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization procedures for the
reusable parts and reprocessing equipment listed below.
The following accessories are manually cleaned and disinfected with the
endoscope during reprocessing of the endoscope as described in Chapter 9,
“Reprocessing the Endoscope (and related reprocessing accessories)”.
However, there may be a case that these accessories must be reprocessed
individually. For example, in case the endoscope is compatible with an AER/WD
and these accessories are not compatible with the AER/WD, these accessories
must be cleaned and disinfected manually apart from the endoscope.
