Description of Operation Section 3-2
3-2-3 Details of Hot Start, Cold Start and Stop State
There are two ways that the Loop Controller can start operation: either a hot
start or a cold start. With the default settings, the Loop Controller will perform
a hot start when the power is turned ON or the Loop Controller is restarted.
If there is an error in the RAM data due to a discharged backup capacitor or
other cause, the Loop Controller will recover the backup data from flash mem-
ory and perform a cold start.
â–  Cold start
Use the cold start method when it isn't necessary to continue operation with
the same values that existed before the power was turned OFF and it is
acceptable for the Board to start operation with the following settings: Local
Set Point, MV = 0, and Manual mode.
1,2,3... 1. The Board reads the Function block data from flash memory and writes the
data to RAM.
2. The Board reads the reception data (SP, PID, etc.) and the Control/Opera-
tion Blocks' HMI send/receive data from the CPU Unit's HMI data area (in
the EM area) and writes the data to RAM.
3. The Board starts to run after initializing the memory area used for opera-
tions as well as the MV output, Auto/Manual switch, and Remote/Local
switch settings.
