4.24.3. Coil monitoring example
The connections for the trip coil would be similar.
When the breaker is closed, “52a” contact is also closed. If
there is continuity in the circuit, the input programmed as
“coil monitoring with 52 close” is seen as closed; if there was
not continuity, it would be seen as open (breaker failure).
When the breaker is open, “52b” contact is closed. If there
is continuity in the circuit, the input programmed as “coil
monitoring with 52 open” is seen as closed; if there was not
continuity, it would be seen as open (breaker failure).
The relays programmed as “close circuit failure” or “trip
circuit failure” are activated 20 seconds after the failure is
detected, in case the failure remains after this time.
