Problem (Playback/Recording) Solution
Troubleshooting (continued)
A DVD±R/±RW recorded
on this DVD recorder does
not play on a DVD player.
There is picture or sound
interference with the TV
reception.
The message
‘UNKNOWN DISC’
appears.
Picture is fuzzy and
brightness varies when
copying DVD Video discs
or pre-recorded video
cassettes.
Recordings are not
occurring as scheduled.
New recordings cannot be
made.
If a recording is too short, it is possible that a DVD player
cannot detect it. Please observe the minimum recording
times for each recording mode : {HQ} – 5 mins, {SP} – 10
mins, {LP} - 15 mins, {EP} – 20 mins, {SLP} – 30 mins.
You have to  nalise the DVD±R. Read the chapter “Setup
Menu Options - { Disc } settings - { Finalise }”.
Have your antenna or cable TV signal checked.
Fine-tune your TV channel. Read the chapter “Setup
Menu Options – { Tuner } Settings”.
This message may appear if you insert a disc that may
have encountered one of the following:
Error during recording: The title may be missing.
Error while changing the title/index picture: The
original title/index picture may be visible.
Error while  nalising or the disc has not been  nalised.
This happens if you try to copy DVDs or video cassettes
that is copy-protected. Even though the picture on the TV
is  ne, but the recording on the recordable DVD disc is
faulty. This interference is unavoidable with copy-
protected DVDs or video cassettes.
The recordable DVD disc has a limited recording lifetime,
please change a new disc for recording.
The TV channel you want to record is not stored or you
have selected the wrong programme number. Check the
TV channels stored.
You have to reset the timer recording after adjusting the
clock setting.
In the timer recording list, one of the following messages
may appear under the { Status } column:
{ Overlap } The timer recording coincides with another
timer recording.
{ Failed } A power failure may have occurred at the
time of the scheduled recording.
{ Overdue } You have to reset the timer recording after
adjusting the clock setting.
{ To HDD } The scheduled recording was recorded to the
hard disk. The recordable DVD disc may be
damaged or it may not have suf cient space
for recording.
