Step 37: Sustain pedal Trapwork set-up and
solenoid adjustment
Adjust the stroke of the pedal solenoid to give a damper lift of 1/16” (2 mm).
Occasionally, as a result of either a poor regulation or worn parts, the solenoid
stroke must be adjusted to a longer distance than is desirable. Keep in mind,
however, that the longer the stroke, the more heat will develop, and this will
shorten the life of the solenoid. The wedge shaped dampers should be just
above the string. The least amount of travel for sustain to occur is the proper
setting.
