PianoDisc Installation Guide 75
. . . . .
Level Adjust Mode
Use this mode to match or balance iQ’s internal volume level with the volume
level of the media player (iPod/MP3 player, CD/DVD player, etc.). Matching or
balancing the volume is necessary for two reasons:
• If a media player’s volume level output is too low the iQ system is unable
to detect the piano data for music playback.
• To establish the desired volume level for music playback.
Before you start the adjustment, PianoDisc recommends setting piano
speakers and the media player to initial volume levels between mid and
maximum:
• Media player volume: 50%.
• Piano speaker volume: 75%.
Since volume level output varies between media player types and brands
—
starting your adjustment between mid and maximum volume gives you a wide
enough range — high or low — to find the optimal playback level for your
system and media player.
IMPORTANT - What happens if the volume is too low?
When you play PianoDisc music on a media player, iQ communicates with the player to
receive the music (piano data). After iQ receives and identifies the music, it starts playback
on the piano.
If playback doesn’t start, the
media player’s volume level is too low
and iQ can’t identify
the music during communication. Gradually increase the media player’s volume until iQ
starts playback.
In some cases, the data is detected but music playback may be too loud or soft.
Gradually, increase or decrease the media player and/or piano speaker volume until
you’ve found a comfortable playback level.
